EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

Somerset County EMS Division

The EMS Division has a mission to provide the highest quality of pre-hospital emergency care to every resident and visitor of Somerset County. Our mission includes having a fully staffed paramedic unit available for every emergency call twenty-four hours a day.

The Emergency Medical Services division is made up of 9 full-time Paramedics and 12 Emergency Medical Technicians who provide pre-hospital care.  A cadre of seven part-time providers assists with providing coverage as well.

The division maintains (3) Advanced Life Support (ALS) Units and 1 Basic Life Support unit (BLS) operating out of stations throughout the county and (1) Supervisor chase unit. Two ALS units and one BLS unit are staffed 24 hours a day seven days a week and one ALS unit is staffed Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM  All units are fully equipped with state-of-the-art lifesaving equipment.

Today’s highly trained EMS professionals deliver an invaluable standard of care in the field. With ongoing advances in medicine and pre-hospital treatment, the impact of Emergency Medical Services continues to grow, saving countless lives. In the past, many heart attack victims would not have survived, but innovations such as the AED program, widespread CPR training for civilians, and expanded public education are making a life-saving difference. Likewise, individuals who once might have succumbed to severe trauma now have a far greater chance of survival thanks to improvements in fluid replacement therapy, advanced trauma care, and rapid aviation transport.

Driven by a deep commitment to serve and a dedication to healing through ongoing training, the Somerset County Emergency Medical Services Division staff is devoted to delivering the highest quality care to all citizens and visitors of Somerset County.
