LEPC

Local Emergency Planning Committee

The purpose of the Somerset County’s LEPC is to enhance Somerset County preparedness and response to hazardous materials incidents by involving the government, private businesses, nonprofit organizations, and citizens in planning and preparing for such an incident. In the past decade, the LEPC has expanded its scope to include planning for and responding to all emergencies that the community could be faced with including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, cybersecurity and infectious disease/pandemics.

The LEPC develops their plans with stakeholder participation from:

  • Elected state and local officials
  • Law enforcement
  • Emergency Management
  • Fire & EMS service
  • Public Health & Hospital personnel
  • Environment & Transportation
  • Representatives from the Media & Community groups
  • Owners and operations of facilities that are subject to EPCRA requirements

If you want to join the Somerset County LEPC, please call 410-651-3457 or email DES@somersetmd.us
